Nasarawa adopts TSA, donates Lafia hospital to federal varsity

- From Hassan Ibrahim, Lafia

The Nasarawa State Executive Council has ratified a decision by the state government to adopt a treasury single account (TSA) system.

The council has also approved the donation of the state-owned general hospital in Lafia to the Federal University Lafia for conversion as the College of Medicine and Teaching Hospital for the university.

These revelations came yesterday from the state Executive Council meeting where the council approved a supplementary budget of about N20 billion for recurrent and capital expenditures.

Briefing newsmen shortly after the council executive meeting yesterday in Lafia, the state Commissioner for Information, Abdulramid Kwarra, said the supplementary budget would meet certain vital needs that the 2017 budget fell short of.

Kwarra said the council considered the state of dilapidation of its share of properties inherited from Plateau State and other properties in Lagos and Kaduna states and approved outright disposal of some of them.

He also said the council had approved the liquidation of the Nasarawa Investment and Property Development Limited after reviewing its performance and discovered that the company was not performing optimally.

Other decisions of the council, according to Kwarra, included appointment of Messr Cyber I system network international to commence collection of stamp duty tax in the state, and establishment of a research and outbreak control laboratory to be named Taal Research and Outbreak Control Center.
