CRIME Police arrest 13 robbery suspects in Kano, Jigawa
The police in Kano and Jigawa states have arrested 13 suspected armed robbers and recovered four guns and other weapons.
Parading the suspects, Kano Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Magaji Musa Majia, said Ali Shehu and Saifullahi Lawan of Hotoro Quarters were arrested on August 19, 2017 in connection with armed robbery and rape which they committed in October 2016.
He said they conspired with two others now at large, robbed their victims of a plasma TV set, one HP computer, one Samsung handset and one big gown before they finally raped their victim (woman). He said the suspects had confessed to the crime and one plasma TV was recovered from them.
He added that Yusuf Mohd of Ajawa Quarters, Kano was also arrested for alleged involvement in several armed robbery operations and car snatching.
“The suspect has confessed to the crimes and led our detectives to arrest a receiver of stolen goods, one Sabi’u Umar in Kaduna State.
“We have also recovered one stolen Toyota Camry from him and he has admitted having received stolen Toyota Corolla and one Ford Focus motor vehicles from the same suspect.
“Again, one Adamu Mohammed was arrested for criminally conspiring with Usman Umar, Auwalu Usman and Shehu Danlami to carry out armed robbery operations in different parts of Kano.
“The suspects have admitted participation in various armed robbery operations including the attack of a trader at Rijiyar Zaki Quarters where they carted away a Honda CRV, Mercedes GLK, cash in various currencies worth about N3 million and other valuables,” he said.
Majia also said that another suspect, Shehu Aliyu of Doma, Nasarawa State, was also arrested with one double barrel gun, one live cartridge and two rubber pistols.
He said a stolen Mercedes car valued at N1.8 million was also recovered from him.
Also, Jigawa police spokesperson, SP Abdul Jinjiri confirmed that three armed robbers who specialized in mounting road blocks in semblance to that of police on highways at night were arrested on Kazaure-Daura highway of the state.
