Ecobank promotes 30% staff

Ecobank Nigeria has announced the promotion of more than one thousand staff in its latest promotion exercise which affected about 30 per cent of its core employees.

The bank has also commenced a graduate recruitmen­t exercise that will give opportunit­y to several hundreds of young Nigerians to join the workforce within the next few years starting from 2018 through a structured training programme that will prepare them as next generation of leaders in the banking industry.

The Managing Director of Ecobank Nigeria, Charles Kie, who announced these developmen­ts in Lagos, stated that they are part of the bank’s roadmap to leadership targeted at making Ecobank one of the top three banks in Nigeria within the next five years.

Kie said the bank is fully committed to rewarding excellence and will continue to take appropriat­e positive actions in line with internatio­nal best practice to sustain excellence in its work force.

He reiterated that Ecobank Nigeria would also continue to simplify and digitize its operations to better serve its customers.

Ecobank Nigeria is part of the Ecobank Group represente­d in 36 African countries. The Group employs nearly 19,000 people from 40 countries, with over 1,200 branches and offices. Accion MFB said it is considerin­g operations in the northern part of the country in future, leveraging technology and physical pretence.

Chairman of the Board of Directors, Accion Microfinan­ce Bank, Patrick Akinuntan, made this known at the financial inclusion seminar marking the 10th year anniversar­y of Accion Microfinan­ce Bank on Saturday.

The move follows the disclosure that microfinan­ce banks in Nigeria have recorded a total of 13 million customers according to Rogers Nwoke, President, National Associatio­n of Microfinan­ce Banks.

A 2016 survey of the Enhancing Financial Inclusion and Access (EFinA) findings revealed that 40.1 million Nigerian adults, representi­ng 41.6per cent of the adult population, are financiall­y excluded.

Mr Akinuntan, said financial inclusion has many benefits which includes helping people to start and grow businesses.
