Caution your subjects against hate speech -Abaji council boss
The Chairman of Abaji Area Council, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, has called on traditional rulers to caution their subjects against provocative utterances that may create tension among people in the area.
Ajiya made the call at a peace and security meeting held at the council’s conference hall last Friday, which had traditional rulers, religious leaders, representatives of various security agencies and members of NURTW as well as motorcycle union in attendance.
The chairman also warned those bent on spreading false information to the public without verifying facts to desist as it was capable of creating tension.
He said the meeting was summoned to foster peace among different ethnic groups and religious sects in the council.
He also urged both members of the motorcycle and NURTW unions to always ensure they are vigilant and law-abiding
“In fact, the tension in some parts of the country is as a result of provocative utterances and false information by some people which I want to call on all tribal chiefs as well as religious leaders to caution their subjects to avoid,” he said.
Also speaking, the Abaji Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP David Kolo, urged the public to give useful information to security agents to help curb crime or arrest any suspect in the area.
He also urged the youth to eschew anything inimical to a peaceful society, saying the police was ready to deal with anybody that engaged in anything that will create crisis in the area.
