Kuchidna gets free medical care, borehole
Residents of Kuchidna, a remote community in Karu Local Government of Nasarawa State were last Saturday excited as they received free health care services and a motorized borehole.
Speaking with newsmen, the chief of the community, Ishaku Anyiwoyi, said they would remain grateful to Livebridge Foundation for providing the free medical services to hundreds of residents.
“I am so happy because of what they have brought to our village. They have given us water by donating a borehole, which was one of our most pressing needs. They have also screened us of various sicknesses and given the drugs. So we are grateful to them for finding us worthy to benefit from this charity,” he said.
The chief added that the intervention was timely since the primary healthcare centre in the community lacked drugs and equipment to treat certain illnesses.
Earlier, the founder of Livebridge, Vicky Alice Nguissoh, said the charity organisation was determined to provide healthwise support to vulnerable and underprivileged communities.
She said when they came to Kuchidna in June 2017 for a medical outreach, they discovered that the community lacked water, so they came back with a full package.
She said those who had health challenges beyond what they could handle would be referred.
She, however, lamented the lack of awareness on HIV/AIDS in the community as only two residents volunteered to be screened.
City News learnt that the residents were screened for blood sugar, HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis.
The foundation also carried out deworming exercises, genotype, family planning counseling among other services.
