Police Eminent Persons forum gets new exco in Abaji

- By Abubakar Sadiq Isah

The Police Eminent Persons Forum (PEPF) of the Gwagwalada area command yesterday inaugurated its new executives in the area.

The 14-member committee has Mr Jacob J. Tukura as chairman, and Mr. Ezekiel John as secretary.

In his speech, the chairman of Gwagwalada area command of the PEPF, Brigadier General Musa Garba (rtd), said the forum was the initiative of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, aimed at strengthening the security architecture of the country.

He said the rationale behind the forum was to involve members of the public in the task of policing over which, he said, the IGP issued directive to all commissioners of police to constitute the forum.

He said the constitution of the forum in the FCT was geared towards giving a novel face to the task of providing security.

“It therefore behoves you as members of this forum to see beyond being just members of the communities you represent,” he said.

The Abaji Council Chairman, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, represented by the council secretary, Alhaji Kamal Adamu Shuaibu, while inaugurating the committee, said the council was elated for having the forum in place, as it will go a long way in addressing security challenges across the council.

The chairman, therefore urged newly inaugurated executives of the forum to ensure they discharged their duties as eminent persons in the area so that lives and property of every individual in it will be secure.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Tukura, said the executive members of the forum would always work with relevant security outfits and stakeholders to check crime across the council.

He therefore solicited for the support and cooperation of the other executive members in working together and addressing any challenge they may come across, especially in the area of security.
