We do not owe police salaries - Accountant General

- By Chris Agabi

The office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) has debunked claims by police in Kaduna State that they are being owed August and September 2017 salaries.

Speaking to our correspondent yesterday over the matter, Mrs Kenechukwu .N Offie, the Director Press, OAGF, said such claims were baseless as all police officers, who were captured on the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) during the verification and data capturing exercise which lasted one year, have been paid their salaries.

She said “all the police officers and men are being paid their salaries as at when due.”

Documents cited by our correspondent show that in September 2017 about N3.9 billion was paid to the police numbering over 52,000 in the eight pilot commands through the IPPIS.

Mrs Offie also said statutory deductions were made as required by law as on all other 461 MDAS on IPPIS platform.

She said statutory deductions include: pension, NHF, pay as you earn Tax, police welfare adding that no other deductions were made other than the compulsory and voluntary ones like cooperative and loan repayments at the instance of the police authorities.

“It should be noted that these deductions are yet to be remitted to the third party beneficiaries until final reconciliation with police authorities that is ongoing” she said.
