CRIME Police quiz Davido again over friend’s death
The Lagos State Police Command yesterday said popular Nigerian musician, David Adeleke (aka Davido) has again been invited for questioning over his alleged involvement in the death of one Tagbo Umeke.
Tagbo’s lifeless body was found in a Toyota Camry car that was parked infront of the Lagos Island General Hospital by one Tunde Yusuf, driver of Davido’s escort Hilux car and one Agbaje Olaojo.
The incident went viral on the social media two weeks ago when the deceased’s girlfriend, one Caroline Danjuma, took to her Instagram page accusing Davido of the death of Tagbo. Since then Davido has come under heavy criticism despite his repeated denial of his alleged involvement in the incident.
Lagos Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, said the command decided to invite all parties after the incident went viral on the social media.
He said those invited for the meeting held at the Command Headquarters include Davido and his family, the deceased’s family, the Area Command, Area A and the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Lion Building police station.
He said: “At the meeting Davido repeatedly denied his involvement in the circumstances that led to the death of Tagbo Umeke. “But this is to set the record straight. The CCTV camera at Shisha bar on Island showed the deceased in company of some his friends. The CCTV camera also showed Tagbo standing and drinking from the bottle. He was also seen molesting some of his friends.
“The camera also showed a white Toyota Hilux belonging to Davido being driven away by Davido’s escort driver, Tunde Yusuf and Agbaje Olaojo.
“Police investigation revealed that the deceased was driven in a Toyota Camry. He was abandoned inside the car.
“The CSO of the Lagos Island Hospital identified the Hilux as one of the vehicles that accompanied the one the deceased was found in. Based on the recent development, the DPO of Lion Building was asked to invite Davido for another round of questioning.”
Edgal further stated that the autopsy report conducted on the deceased revealed that Tagbo died of asphyxia (suffocation).
Meanwhile, Davido was sighted yesterday at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja along with his lawyer.
