- From Magaji Isa Hunkuyi, Jalingo

The Taraba State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Haruna Manu has said the state government is making arrangement to bring back home all the victims of Mambilla crisis who fled to Cameroon.

While addressing thousands of refugees from the state at a camp in Atai in Cameroon Republic at the weekend he said that Governor Darius Ishaku was worried over the plight of the Taraba people staying in Cameroon and he was arranging necessary machinery to resettle them in their ancestral homes.

Alhaji Haruna Manu who led a delegation from the state, told the refugees, “We are worried over your plight and will do everything possible to bring you back home. You should therefore accept to come back home.”

He said the crisis in the Mambilla Plateau that led to losses of lives and destruction of properties was unfortunate and all the people must stay together in peace and harmony.

“The government has put machinery in motion for true reconciliation between Mambilla and Fulani community in the Mambilla plateau to ensure permanent peace in the area,” the deputy governor assured.

In his address, spokesman of the refugees, Ardo Muhammadu Usman commended the deputy governor for the visit, adding that the visit had disabused the minds of the refugees that Taraba government had abandoned them in that country.
