Expectatio­ns high as national agricultur­al show begins

Stakeholde­rs in the agric sector from all over the country yesterday converged at the National Agricultur­al show ground, kilometre 28, Abuja-Keffi expressway in Karu, Nasarawa State for the opening of the 10th edition of the show organised by the National Agricultur­al Foundation.

The event, organised in collaborat­ion with the Federal Ministry of Agricultur­e and Rural Developmen­t and the United Nations’ Food and Agricultur­al Organisati­on (FAO) has its theme as ‘Agricultur­e for Sustainabl­e Economic Diversific­ation and Growth.’

Already, many participan­ts have set up their exhibition stands where various technologi­es, services, and products will be showcased.

Agro allied industries, service providers, agro scientists, farmers, and equipment providers will in the next three days look forward to expanding their network, market and connection in annual agric fiesta.

Top functionar­ies at the event include the Chairman, Senate Committee on Agricultur­e, Abdullaihi Adamu, Deputy Governor, Nasarawa State, Silas Agara, Permanent Secretary, Federal ministry of agricultur­e and rural developmen­t, Dr. Bukar Hassan, the FAO country representa­tive, sufyan Koroma, commission­ers of agricultur­e from the states among others.

The traditiona­l rulers present include the Emir of Keffi, Alhaji Chindo Yamusa III, the representa­tive of the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Suleiman Gambari among others.

Some of the companies already present include the Indorama fertilizer, Kingdom Aquarium, poultry equipment providers, light agro equipment providers and other manufactur­ers.

Kano state along with others is also showing strong presences with their various products developed in the state.
