A non-governmental organisation, Envisioned Global Care Foundation, has donated relief materials to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), Kuchigoro Camp, Abuja.

The Programme Director, Diana Eyo Endette, said the donation was an initiative towards supporting government’s efforts of revitalizing, reconstructing and rehabilitating the IDPs.

Endette, while delivering the materials to the IDPs, said the gesture was aimed at improving the standard of living of the IDPs, adding that it would go a long way to cushioning their suffering.

“As a humanitarian organisation, we are here to support the cause of the government of giving the IDPs a better life through the North East Initiative.

“The donation of the relief materials is part of our contribution to complement the good effort of the government in trying to get the IDPs back home. We believe that this gesture will go a long way in ameliorating their sufferings,” she said.

The donated items included bags of rice, cartoons of noodles, clothing materials and other items.

Also, the group sensitised the IDPs on the importance on immunisation and family planning.

Following the recent outbreak of monkey pox, Endette said it has become imperative for the IDPs to support government’s efforts to protect their children against vaccinepreventable diseases.

She urged them to live healthy in order to stay healthy by cultivating common health practices such as hand washing.

“While government is trying to get them back home, their health care is paramount. Health is key to their survival here. They need to live healthy to stay healthy,” she said.
