Vigilante nab 2 men over goat theft in Abaji

- By Abubakar Sadiq Isah

Two young men identified as Yahuza and Yusuf were arrested yesterday morning by members of a vigilante group for allegedly stealing a goat at Anguwar Abattoir in Abaji.

A witness said one of the suspects was arrested at about 6:00a.m. in a compound at the Abattoir while trying to untie a goat.

He said the suspect and his accomplice allegedly stole the goat at Anguwar Wadata on Agyana road and brought it to the compound he was staying at Abattoir.

The witness said when he woke up at about 5:30a.m.to observe his prayers, he saw a goat tied to tree in the compound.

“So I called the attention of my brother to come and see the goat,” he said.

He said some minutes later one of the suspects came to untie the goat, and that he asked him who owned it.

“cWhen I asked him who owned the goat that he was untying, the man did not give a satisfactory explanation so I called the landlord who came to interrogate him and he confessed that he stole it at Anguwar Wadata on Agyana road.

A vigilante member, who preferred anonymity, told our reporter that the second suspect was also arrested and both of them were handed over to the police.

When contacted, the Abaji Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP David Kolo, confirmed the arrest of the two suspects.

He said he was yet to interview them as they were still writing their statements.
