The National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has been fixed for October 31, a reliable source told yesterday in Abuja.

The meeting of the party’s national caucus will hold on October 30, ahead of the much anticipated non-elective mini convention.

At the caucus meeting, the report of Dr. Muiz Banire Constitution Review Committee, expected to be presented by the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led NWC, will also be considered, the source said.

The date for the forthcoming convention will also be fixed, even as the resolutions at the caucus meeting would be ratified at the October 31 NEC meeting.

The current outlook of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) is expected to change, with a plan to prune down the membership and rename the organ, which is seen as the conscience of the APC.

The APC had postponed the convention earlier fixed for April 29, 2017, amidst several contentious issues, including the absence of President Muhammadu Buhari, paucity of funds, disaffection by some party faithful and other political intrigues.

“A new date for the convention became impossible after President Muhammadu Buhari left for the United Kingdom on a medical trip,” another source said.

Now that Mr President is back, preparations for the 2019 general elections seem to have been reinvigorated.
