ITF trains 30 unemployed youth in Kogi
The Industrial Training Fund (ITF), in collaboration with the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA), has commenced a 12 months vocational skills training for 30 unemployed youths in Kogi State.
Speaking at their matriculation in Lokoja, the Training Manager for the state, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar, said the beneficiaries who were the first set of unskilled youths to be admitted by the ITF skills centre under the NECA funded ITF-Technical Skills Development Project (TSDP), would undergo training in two key areas of welding/fabrication and electrical installation/maintenance.
He noted that the essence of the training was to make the youths acquire relevant skills that would make them employable and also be employers of labour.
He disclosed that each trainee would receive N10,000 monthly stipend throughout the training to motivate them, adding that they would also be fed throughout the training.
He advised the trainees to stay focused and take the training serious, warning that they should avoid all forms of unruly behaviour and restiveness that would not augur well for the centre. The Head of Training at the centre, Mr. Vincent Iyam, urged the trainees to ensure regular attendance at both the theory and hands-on-practical classes.
On behalf of the trainees, Tehinse Gloria appreciated ITF and NECA for the training programme and promised to make good use of the opportunity.
