Gunmen abduct nurse in Gombe, demand N10m
Gunmen abducted a nurse working with the Gombe State Government in the early hours of yesterday and have demanded N10 million for his release.
Daily Trust learnt that the nurse, Mr Ephraim Ajuji, who is the Secretary of a Cottage Hospital in Hina town of Yamaltu Deba Local Government Area of the state, was abducted by the men armed with Dane guns and cutlasses.
His daughter, Mary Ephraim, told Daily Trust on phone that the kidnappers numbering seven invaded their house and asked them the whereabouts of the nurse, and that they injured her with a cutlass before leaving with her father.
“They barged into our house around 2:30am and asked for our father. When he appeared, they grabbed him and collected all our mobile phones. When they were about to leave, one of them threw our father’s phone to us and said they would contact us through the phone,” she said.
Mary said the abductors called to demanded N10 million, explaining, “They called us yesterday around 7 in the morning, through our mother’s phone they collected, and demanded N10 million as ransom, and they threatened to kill him if the money was not paid to them.”
The state Commissioner of Police, MrShinaTairuOlukolu,saidtheDadin Kowa Police Division was informed around 3:30 am after the kidnappers had whisked the nurse away, but that the police in collaboration with other security agencies had launched an investigation into the incident and would soon arrest the criminals
