The wife of the late member that represented Idemili North in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Mrs. Nkoli Mmegbuaneze, has emerged the flag-bearer of the All Progressives Grand alliance (APGA) to replace her husband in the legislature.

The late lawmaker, Francis Mmegbuaneze, reportedly died barely 12 hours after participating in the gubernatorial primary election of the party held in Awka three months ago.

Mrs. Mbegbuaneze won the primary election that was held at the headquarters of the council in Ogidi under the supervision of national and state officials of APGA, including officials from INEC, with delegates from all the wards in the council participating.

Speaking after receiving her certificate of return from the Returning Officer, Mrs. Anthonia Tabansi Okoye, the APGA flag-bearer thanked the delegates for finding her worthy to replace her late husband in the legislature.

The by-election would be held on November 18, same day with the gubernatorial election.

She pledged to continue from where her husband stopped in delivering dividends of democracy to her constituents.

In his remarks, the state APGA Chairman, Sir Norbert Obi, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the delegates during the election, describing the process as free, fair and credible.
