Emir Sanusi backs Kanu, Diouf’s Match-4-IDPs
@Ngobuadavid As millions of Nigerians express overt support for the forthcoming Match4-IDPs, the Emir of Kano, HRH Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has declared that he would lead thousands of fans who will watch the charity match billed for December 4 at the Sani Abacha stadium Kano.
Speaking on Tuesday in Kano when Nwankwo Kanu and El-Hadji Diouf, two of the Africa legends, the Chief Coordinator of the Match-4-IDPs, Adi Goodman and the Coordinator of the Africa legends, Mo Mohammed Mustapha visited his palace, Emir Sanusi assured that he would grace the match between Kano Pillars football club and the Africa legends.
The paramount ruler also commended those behind the laudable initiative to raise funds for the displaced persons as he said it is a welcome development.
Emir Sanusi said he will use his position to push for the success of the programme, as the emirate council is in total support of the philanthropic initiative.
He also promised the organisers the hospitality of the sports loving people of Kano State.
Speaking earlier, Nwankwo Kanu and El- Hadji Diouf said the choice of Kano to host the event was based on the high number of lovers of the game of football in the State.
They both agreed that the desire to give back to the people was the key motivating factors most of the former Africa stars agreed to participate in the game.
Also speaking, Coordinator of the Africa Legends, Mo Mohammed Mustapha, said most of the invited players have agreed to honour the event because of their strong belief that it is a worthy venture for the development of humanity.
