‘Ambode didn’t order invasion of lawmaker’s residence’
The invasion and eventual takeover of the residence of Lagos State House of Assembly member, Hon. Funmi Tejuosho by policemen on Friday was not ordered by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, the government said yesterday.
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, told Daily Trust last night that the governor did not give any directive to that effect as being speculated.
It would be recalled that heavily armed mobile policemen stormed the residence at 3A Sasegbon Street, GRA Ikeja Lagos to seal the residence even though the lawmaker who represents Mushin constituency 2 is outside the country on official assignment.
Some members of Tejuosho Family including her four children were locked inside by the policemen.
They described the ejection of the lawmaker from the said residence as an act of victimization following her purported closeness with the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Legal Adviser, Dr. Muiz Banire who is not in good terms with the governor.
But Ayorinde insisted the report that the governor ordered the ejection of the lawmaker was false, stressing that the development had no political undertone.
The lawmaker could not be reached for comment yesterday as her mobile line was switched off while the text message sent to her was not replied as of the time of filing this report.
