We’re winning the battle to revive economy – FG

The Federal Government yesterday declared that it is winning the battle to revive the economy.

The Minister of Informatio­n and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said at a media parley in Lagos that the administra­tion’s economic policy highlighte­d in its Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) which was launched on April 5th 2017 had started yielding results.

Mohammed said, “The good people of Nigeria have borne the pains with equanimity, based on their unshakable trust in the sincerity, capability and commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Now, the soothing balm is here. As the results of the government’s fidelity to its well-articulate­d economic policies trickle in, one thing is sure: This time around, it will be long-lasting”.

Mohammed was joined at the parley by the Secretary to the Presidenti­al Enabling Business Environmen­t Council (PEBEC) and the Coordinato­r of the Enabling Business Environmen­t Secretaria­t (EBES), Dr. Jumoke Oduwole.

He said the country had not only exited recession, the administra­tion had returned the nation to the path of growth after consecutiv­e quarters of contractio­n.

The Minister pointed out that the country had moved up 24 places to 145th in the World Bank’s ‘Doing Business’ report, adding that for the first time the country was recognized as one of the top 10 most improved economies in the world.

The Minister said the implementa­tion of the Ease of Doing Business agenda had eased the operations of micro, small and medium enterprise­s (MSMEs).
