UniAbuja has serious facility deficit – Council
Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council of University of Abuja, Alhaji Sani Maikudi, has said there is a serious facility deficit in university of Abuja, which must be addressed if the institution is to realize its full potentials.
The Pro-Chancellor indicated that the council might seek the intervention of the Federal Government and intervention agencies involved in the construction of projects at the University to facilitate the completion of uncompleted projects.
He said most of the projects on the University campuses had now stopped for one reason or the other and were far behind their completion periods with serious consequences for the planned development of the University.
According to a statement by the Deputy Registrar (Information and Publications Unit) Waziri Garba, Alhaji Sani dropped the hint while addressing staff of academic departments and units during a facility tour of the University by members of the governing council.
He commended agencies like the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), TETFund, and others for the great work being undertaken in the university and regretted that work had temporarily stopped on some of the intervention projects which the Council will seek continuation of.
The chairman said the Council will package the requirements of the University pertaining to the uncompleted physical facilities to the Federal Ministry of Education with a view to finding a way out for the University.
While commending the University staff for their commitment to the system he called on them to rededicate themselves towards the drive by Council to widen the horizon of the university through a guided partnership with the private sector where all stakeholders will feel the impact of the institution.
