The AIG Zone 5 Police Headquarters, Benin, has arrested one Garrette Sunday who specialised in registering and issuing fake vehicle documents for stolen vehicles in Agbor, Delta State.

The spokesman of the zone, DSP Emeka Ihenacho, who disclosed this in a statement in Benin at the weekend, said the suspect was arrested on October 26.

He said the police stormed the hideout of the suspected criminal syndicate that specialised in registering and issuing fake vehicle documents for stolen vehicles in Agbor, Delta State and arrested the suspect.

Ihenacho explained that sometime in September, police operatives of the zone, raided some car dealers in Agbor, said to specialise in dealing in stolen vehicles, and recovered eight exotic cars suspected to be stolen.

“The car dealers absconded to unknown destination and to unravel the true owners of these vehicles and circumstances surrounding their theft, operatives visited some motor licensing offices in Benin, Agbor and Yenagoa where the information about the vehicles was discovered to be fake,” he said.

He said several exhibits were recovered from the suspect who has since confessed to the crime and was helping in the investigation, adding that he would be charged to court as soon as investigation was concluded.
