Dangote eyes top 10 World cement producers

Dangote Group of Companies has revealed plans to be one of the top 10 manufactur­ers of cement in the world in the next 10 years, insisting that it has the capacity, commitment and encouragem­ent.

The company also revealed plans to diversify into oil and gas, steel, production of tomatoes and sugar in order to meet the rising demands of Nigerians as well as other African countries soon.

The Directorof­corporate Communicat­ions, Engr. Ahmed Mansur, who stated these at the ongoing Lagos Internatio­nal Trade Fair, yesterday, said the company would continue to add value to all its products both in Nigeria and the rest of Africa.

He further revealed that Dangote group presently sells its products in about 12 countries across Africa, adding that the company would soon open a cement plant in Congo.

Highlighti­ng some Dangote products, Mansur said the company manufactur­es flour, cement, salt, sugar, pasta and seasoning amongst others.

“We are always challenged to do more. At every trade fair, we will continue to reveal what we are doing more. At the fair today, our customers have demanded for brown sugar and we will work towards getting it for them provided there will be demand for it,” Mansur said.

President of Lagos Chambers of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Mrs Nike Akande, who described Dangote group as the most impactful private company in Nigeria, said the group is reputed to be one of the most socially responsibl­e corporate citizen in Nigeria with corporate social responsibi­lity projects impacting the society, infrastruc­ture and the less privileged.

Also, the chairman, Trade Promotion Board, Mr. Sola Oyetayo, said Dangote group has contribute­d immensely to the sustenance of Lagos trade fair which has added value to the nation’s trade promotion, private sector empowermen­t and commerce for the past 31 years in Nigeria and the West African region.
