Mark D’ Ball basketball tourney returns, dunks off Dec 27

- By David Ngobua

@Ngobuadavid The organisers of the annual Mark D’ Basketball Tournament have said arrangements have been concluded for this year’s edition which will hold between December 21st to 31st at the newly built Mark D Ball Arena in Otukpo.

The event did not hold last year due to a court case which the organisers said has been fully settled to avoid a needless faceoff and a breach of the law.

Addressing the press yesterday, Igoche Mark, son of the former Senate President, David Mark said the event will resume with ‘greater pomp and style’.

He said “Mark D’Ball Basketball tournament, a nonprofit venture solely promoted by His Excellency Senator David AB Mark, through Mark Sports Foundation brings to our small town, Otukpo some of Nigeria’s most exciting basketball and musical acts.

“Without a doubt, this event is a great asset to the community and is one of the main highlights of our end of year celebration.

He, therefore said this year’s event will not be an exception as the basketball fraternity and Nigerian stars in the music industry will converge on Akpegede, the ancestral home of the former Senate President to celebrate the end of year 2017.

According to him, since this year’s event will also focus on the family, a number of new activities that promise to be fun for every member of the family have been infused in this year’s programme.

Also speaking, a member of the organising committee, AdaMark Ogbole said one of the highlights of this event will be the children’s basketball clinic which she said would attract not less than 1,000 kids.

She said in the last edition, only 400 kids participated in the children’s clinic.
