Osinbajo tasks African DFIs on financial inclusion, poverty eradication
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has tasked the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of African Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) to devise financial solutions that will ensure financial inclusion and poverty eradication on the continent.
The vice president spoke at the Forum of CEOs of the Association of African Development Finance Institutions held in Abuja yesterday.
The theme for the forum is ‘Strengthening Africa’s Development Financing Institutions (DFIs) through good corporate governance and appropriate regulations for sustainable development financing in Africa.”
Represented by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Okechukwu Enelamah, Osinbajo said the CEOs should prioritise the development of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in their financing plan for businesses on the continent.
Earlier in his remarks, the minister of Trade and Investment reiterated government’s commitment towards enhancing rapid development by providing an enabling environment for DFIs to function.
The Managing Director of the Bank of Industry (BOI), Olukayode Pitan, said the CEOs of financial development banks converged in Abuja to brainstorm and find means to facilitating rapid development on the African continent.
