Council to partner FCT department on infrastructural development
The Chairman of Kuje Area Council, Alhaji Abdullahi Galadima, has pledged to partner with the Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD) of the FCTA to ensure rapid infrastructural development in the council.
A statement issued yesterday in Kuje by Mr Nimrod Koce, Head of Information of the council, stated that Galadima gave the pledge when a delegation from STDD paid him a courtesy visit.
The chairman, who commended the delegation, said the visit was an indication that the department was prepared to deliver on its mandate.
He said the visit was the first of its kind since the inauguration of the department and expressed the council’s readiness to support it in project monitoring.
Galadima stated that the council’s administration had awarded contracts for the drilling of 20 hand-pump boreholes for rural communities in the 10 wards of the council.
He said 16 of the boreholes had been delivered, adding that the council had also inaugurated the construction of Kayarda by-pass in the council.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation and the Coordinator of STDD, Alhaji Tanko Yamawo, told the council boss that the visit was to inspect projects embarked upon by the council.
He listed the projects as 6.5 kilometre Kuje-Gwagwalada road, Kuje-Gaube road, Kuje-Pegni road, Kuje-Kango road, Senate Staff Mass Housing as well as Prison road.
Yamawo said the visit was also to identify the infrastructural challenges facing the council with a view to collaborating and addressing them. (NAN)
