Diabetes is a condition in which the body is unable to keep the blood sugar within a normal rate, and it is often caused by deficiency in an organ called the pancrease

There are two kind of diabetes. There is the insulin dependent and non insulin dependent diabetes.

Symptoms

Diabetes is a disorder that increases thirst, causes frequent urination, some measure of dizziness, dry mouth and constant desire to keep drinking water. Early diagnosis is important. Check your blood sugar regularly.

Cure

There is no known cure for diabetes. But it can be effectivel­y managed. Diabetes is now a condition that you can live with for a very long time. It doesn’t need to affect your life style or your work.

Habits that predispose you to diabetes

-Sedentary lifestyle (inadequate exercise) -Level of alcohol intake -Eating habits (eat balanced diet instead of too much carbohydra­tes)

-Consumptio­n of drinks with high sugary contents. Are you living with diabetes? -Have a close relationsh­ip with your doctor, and a one-on-one conversati­on with him or her, as your symptoms change.

-Take your drugs regularly and as prescribed by your doctor.

-Eat balanced diet. Don’t condemn yourself to beans and plaintain. Go for a rainbow diet comprising all classes of food such as a small portion of carbohydra­te with a lot vegetables, proteins and fruits.

-Moderate exercising, at least 30 minutes three to four times weekly.
