COUNTDOWN TO Buhari orders restoration of Obiano’s security aides

-

President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the reinstatement of the security aides of Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, disclosed this in a statement yesterday.

President Buhari was in Akwa yesterday for the grand finale of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship rally.

The presidential spokesman said while welcoming President Buhari on arrival, Obiano had complained about the withdrawal of his security aides.

Adesina said before departing Awka, President Buhari directed the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations), Joshak Habila, to ensure the return of the governor’s security personnel.

The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, had during election stakeholders’ forum organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission on Tuesday in Awka, said that the withdrawal of Obiano’s security aides was to prevent the reoccurrence of past elections.

Meanwhile, the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) has applauded the federal government for the restoration of the security details to governor Obiano ahead of the Saturday governorship election in the state.

The party also commended President Mohammadu Buhari for his intervention which had made possible the restoration of all the security details to the governor withdrawn on Nov. 14.

Addressing newsmen at the party secretariat, the National Chairman of the party, Chief Victor Oye, urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to compromise a free, fair and credible governorship election in the state.
