Two persons whose names are yet to be revealed have been arrested for allegedly stealing 20 bags of cement at Tugan Maje village in Gwagwalada Area Council.
A resident of the area, Yusuf Yahaya, said the suspects allegedly burgled a cement shop at about 12:13a.m. last Friday morning, after the shop owner had closed.
He said the suspects destroyed the padlock and made away with the cement, saying the owner of the shop came the next day and discovered that his shop was burgled.
“The man went to report to the vigilantes in the area, and they started tracing the people involved and luckily they arrested them where they took the cement to sell, “he said.
He said the man who bought the cement was also arrested and handed over to the police at Zuba division.
When contacted, the FCT police command spokesman, DSP Anjuguri Manza, confirmed the incident, saying the matter was still under investigation. Police officers at the Gwarinpa division have arrested two suspects for allegedly stealing three water heaters and two toilet seats from a building in Works and Housing Estate.
A source at the division said the suspects were arrested after a distress call was placed to the division by an anonymous resident at about 6:00a.m. on Tuesday.
The source said the suspects had already burgled the building but were arrested before they could leave the estate due to the prompt intervention of the police officers.
Reacting, the Gwarinpa Divisional Police Officer, CSP Nuruddeen Sabo, said the two suspects were in police custody.
“Two hoodlums named Jordan Ibrahim and Fidelis both of Gombe State burgled the house of one Adekanye and carted away three water heaters and two toilet seats valued at N215, 000,” he said.
He said the items were recovered from the suspects adding that they would be prosecuted.
