The All Progressives Congress (APC) women leaders in Abaji Area Council have tasked chairman of the council, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, on empowerment of women in the area.

Speaking on behalf of the party’s ward women leaders from the 10 wards of the council at a meeting with the council chairman yesterday, the Yaba ward woman leader, Hadiza Ibrahim, urged the chairman to support the women with capital to enable them go into small scale businesses.

She said there were many women across the 10 wards of the council who were into various trades but they lack funds. She called on the chairman to support them so that they would become self-reliant.

She complained about lack enough boreholes to provide water at Gurdi and Alu-Mamagi villages, in which she called on the council to intervene especially as dry season sets in.

“We are also calling on the chairman to see how a clinic can be provided at AluMamagi village too as patients have to travel all the way from the village to Abaji to seek for medical attention, “she said.

Responding, the chairman of the council, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, said he was not unaware of some of the challenges facing the rural communities, assuring that the council was making efforts to provide amenities for all rural communities.

“We must not allow other people from PDP to come into our party to destroy it, as we must unite to ensure that we hold meetings to let our members know the true position of what we met on ground, “he said.
