CRIME Man kills housewife, burns her corpse in Maiduguri

An unidentified man has allegedly killed a housewife, Ya Hujju Shuwa, and set her corpse ablaze at Tashar Mai Jakai in Maimusari ward at the outskirts of Maiduguri metropolis.

The suspect, said to be a miscreant, gained entry into Shuwa’s residence at about 11:00am with local arms which he allegedly used to kill her.

A witness, Oga Nauyi, told our reporter that he saw the corpse of Ya Hujju at the premises of Ibrahim Taiwo Police Station before policemen evacuated it to her residence. He said some parts of deceased body were burnt.

When Daily Trust visited late Shuwa’s residence, her husband, Malam Ahmed Ali, told this reporter: “I was with my wife from the previous night to the morning of the fateful day; I left her at about 11:00am to visit my second wife. While I was there, one of my friends called me on phone and told me that my wife was dead.”

He said Shuwa’s younger sister told him she saw the suspected killer, who she identified as a youth, hiding at a corner in the house, when she returned from an errand.

He said: “My wife had no problems with her neighbours; she was living peacefully with them since I brought her to Nigeria from Cameroon; she even seldom went out; I married my wife from Fotokol in Cameroon.”

An officer in the Investigation Department of the Ibrahim Taiwo Police Station who preferred anonymity confirmed the incident and said the case has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Borno State Police Command for further investigation.
