SPORT ‘Plateau United yet to sign Pillars’ Gambo Mohammed’
Nigeria Professional Football League reigning champions Plateau United Football Club of Jos has said that is yet to sign Kano Pillars’ talismanic striker, Gambo Mohammed. It recalled that last week there was a rumour making round that the Peace Boys have signed the striker at a record fee of N15 million, but Dakup stated that negotiations were still ongoing between the two clubs in order to see the possibility of securing the signing of the striker.
Plateau United Media Officer, Albert Dakup, who made the clarification, however said discussions are still on, and there are strong indications that the bulky attacker would put pen to paper for the Jos side.
“Gambo was in Jos town to meet with Coach Kennedy Boboye and the club’s General Manager Pius Henwen in order to discuss some issues surrounding his signing by our beloved club, and from the look of things it seems certain that Gambo would end up as Plateau United player,” he said.
Dakup explained that the main reason why Tin City club wants to sign the striker was due to his experience in the CAF Champions League competition where he is still the leading Nigerian players’ goal scorers chat in the competition.
“He is the Nigerian players leading goal scorer in CAF Champions League competition with eight goals, therefore we need his experience and versatility, and he would fit into our system,” he concluded.
