NTIC students showcase talents in science innovations

A total of 63 science and arts projects have been presented by students of Nigeria Tulip International College (NTIC), FCT-Abuja at the fourth edition of the college’s annual science and arts fair.

The fair tagged, ‘NTIC Annual Science and Arts Fair’ held in Abuja, on Tuesday, showcased interesting items at exhibition stands which included robot made from plastic bottles, hovercraft, wireless transmitter, solar water heater, jug of mysteries, DNA extraction, electric generator, circular system, mathematics logic puzzles, grammar game and paper projects among others.

Some of the students expressed delight over their performance in the games and competitions, which included spelling bees, tongue twisters, word games, figures of speech in English and food and culture game of France.

Some visitors from other schools said they were exposed to various geographical locations and issues such as the current economic situation in the country, equity investment decisions and diverse Nigerian ethnic groups.

The technical department staff presented specially designed gadgets and tools such as water dispenser/refrigerator made from wood; drill press, re-coiling, electric grass cutting machine, wood turning machine and wood lathe among others.

Speaking earlier, the Deputy Managing Director of NTIC, Feuzullah Filbin, said they organised the event to encourage the students in science and technology.

“We will like to encourage the love of science among the students. That is why we invited students from other schools so that they will also be inspired by what they see which will encourage them to do some in the future,” he said

According to him, their target was to ensure that the students practiced what they learnt and shared what they were learning.

He said this year’s fair was more organized, bigger and unique compared to previous editions.

There was also a raffle draw in which prizes were won by both NTIC’s and visiting students.
