- From Lami Sadiq, Jos

Make Jos Great Again, a forum launched by friends and associates in 2016 to return Jos to its former peaceful self, at the weekend expressed worry over the recent resurgence of violence in some parts of Plateau State.

Members of the forum include former Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Samu’ila Danko Makama, Senator Jack Tilley-Gyado, Colonel Lawal Gwadabe (rtd), former Minister of Information for State, Ibrahim Dasuki Nakande and Lilian Kachalong Rwang.

Makama who is chairman of the forum said during the 2nd annual general meeting at the Leadership Institute, Jos that members had witnessed with dismay the manner religious, ethnic and political differences had polarized the city which necessitated the emergence of the forum

The forum whose members are of divergent political, ethnic and religious backgrounds, according to the chairman, intends to achieve its objective through peaceful means, exchange of ideas, community service and partnership by way of private contributions to human development within and around Jos.

While commiserating with those affected in the recent skirmishes, the former NPC boss called on government at all levels and the security agencies to urgently redouble efforts towards restoring peace and safeguarding lives and property of all and sundry.
