Pacesetters Academy donates to displaced persons in Abuja
Students of Pacesetters Academy from various locations in Abuja, yesterday, visited the Internally Displaced Persons camp in Durumi and donated relief items to the displaced persons.
The students were led by the school’s chairman, Barr. Kenneth Imansuangbon, who said the visit was part of the school’s end of the year activities which also included talent show to climax with the school’s end of the year party tomorrow.
Imansuangbon said the school took the visit seriously in order to instil in the students not only educational activities but also the spirit of giving, oneness and unity.
“Nigeria’s founding fathers have taught us on the need to build a loving country where the future of its children would be guaranteed. To guarantee their future is to show affection by sharing what you have with your fellow man and not eating alone,” he said.
“Let’s build a strong, loving and united country. Let’s stop this hate, bitterness and division. We are Nigerians before any political party, religion or tribe; you are first a human being before anything,” he said.
One of the students, Daisy Onyehumen, said the visit would help the inmates know that some people still loved and cared about them.
“They still have chance in the world and we care for them,” she said.
The camp coordinator, Idris Ibrahim, commended the school for the donation and assured that it will be judiciously distributed.
Items donated included bags of rice, cartoons of noodles, toiletries, clothing materials, tubers of yam, diapers, soft drinks and cash.
