GOtv Boxing Night: Baby Face vows to inflict pain on Ngige

- From Temitayo Odunlami, Lagos

Nigeria’s light welterweight boxing star, Rilwan “Baby Face” Babatunde, has vowed to inflict pain on Chijioke “Painless” Ngige when they clash for the vacant national title at the GOtv Boxing Night 13 on December 26, 2017.

The event, which holds at the Landmark Centre, Victoria Island, will provide a proof of Baby Face’s progress since his discovery at the GOtv Boxing NextGen 1 in Lagos.

He is yet to suffer any loss, and emerged the best boxer at Gotv Boxing Night 11, winning a cash prize of N2 million.

“Painless will receive maximum punishment and pain. This title is something I have been dreaming of and I don’t see how Painless can stop me. I have fought better boxers like Oganla and Tombraye. They fell. Painless too will fall, but not before I inflict plenty of pain on him,” bragged the 22-year-old.

The headline bout on the night will see Nigeria’s Oto “Joe Boy” Joseph take on Abdulrahim Ahmed of Egypt for the vacant African Boxing Union (ABU) lightweight title.

Olaide “Fijaborn” Fijabi will also fight for the ABU light welterweight title against Michael “Tyson” Odhiambo of Kenya.

Another important match-up is the one that will see Abolaji “Afonja Warrior” Rasheed defend his West African Boxing Union (WABU) middleweight title against Arye Ayiiteh of Ghana.

The event, which will feature musical performances by Small Doctor, Simi, Falz and Reekado Banks, will equally see Rilwan “Real One” Oladosu go up against Kehinde “Ijoba” Badmus, while Jimoh “Hogan Jnr.” Lukman will fight Rilwan “Scorpion” Opatola. Both fights are in the lightweight division. In the middleweight division, Matthew “Wizeman” Obinna will fight David “Cosmos”Awosika in a challenge bout.
