Newly promoted naval officers decorated

-

Seven personnel of the Eastern Naval Command have been decorated with their new ranks at a brief ceremony at the command headquarters in Calabar.

The Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), the Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral Victor Adedipe, who decorated the officers, charged them to maintain the highest standard in the discharge of their duties.

Rear Admiral Adedipe urged the officers to see their promotion as a call to greater responsibilities, noting that the Nigerian navy would not condone illegalities and misconduct from senior officers.

“Promotion comes from God. For you to be so promoted means the individual must have shown outstanding loyalty, diligence and hard work.

“Your conduct and utterance must be reflected in your new ranks and responsibilities; and you must begin to see issues from the policy directive perspective.

“Things that would have been overlooked when you were in lower ranks will no longer be forgiven now that you all have attained higher ranks.

“Promotion comes with enormous duties and responsibilities. As you have been elevated to higher ranks, it is expected that your responsibilities too will increase,” the FOC said.

Responding on behalf of those promoted, Commodore David Tubonimi, thanked the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, for finding them worthy of promotion.

While pledging continued loyalty to the navy and the country, Tubonimi said, “we will do everything possible to make sure that we do not disappoint the nation and Nigerian Navy.” (NAN)
