CRIME Boy, 14, charged with We arrested 4 robbers by following their foot prints – Jigawa police rape of 4-year-old girl

Boy, 14, arraigned before a State Magistrate’s Court in Gombe over the rape of a 4-year-old girl has confessed to the crime.

The accused Mubashiru Badamasi, was standing trial before the court over alleged rape of a minor.

Badamasi was arrested at Jekadafari quarters after he forcefully abused the girl (names withheld).

The court was told that on November 29, 2017 at about 11:30am, Badamasi lured the girl into a bathroom in the neighbourh­ood, where he forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Bako Shekari, said the offence contravene­d Section 282 of the Penal Code Law.

The accused who was tried as a juvenile, pleaded guilty to the charge of rape preferred against him. He apologised to the family of the girl for deflowerin­g their daughter.

The presiding judge, Chief Magistrate Babayo Abba Usamatu, ordered the prosecutor to refer the case file to the Director of Public Prosecutio­n for profession­al advice.

He adjourned the case to January 8, 2018 for further mention, and ordered the accused to be put under the custody of Children’s Remand Home. The police have arrested four armed robbers after following their foot prints to Nerawa village of Dutse Local Government Area in Jigawa State.

The spokespers­on of the state police, SP Abdul Jinjiri, made the disclosure yesterday, while speaking to Daily Trust on phone. He said the robbers had attacked one, Alhaji Umar Maiwake Kudai, on Monday in Kudai village.

Jinjiri said the armed robbers who were armed with local weapons, inflicted cut with machete on their victim and carted away an undisclose­d amount of money as well as his two phones.

He said that a relation to the victim, Rabiu Hussaini, reported the incident to the police saying, the joint patrol team of police and vigilante who swung into action without delay, succeeded in arresting the criminals.

He said the footprints of the suspects aided the police in tracing their location, adding that a stolen cow and two motorcycle­s were found in their possession.

The PPRO said the suspects, who are undergoing interrogat­ion include Umaru Alhaji Buba, 22, Hassan N. Jibril, 26, Hadi Mohammed, 30 and Hamza Mohammed, 30.
