2 emerge winners in Principals’ quiz competitio­n in Ogun

Two pupils from public secondary schools in Ogun State have emerged winners of the All Nigerian Confederat­ion of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPPS), Ogun State branch, quiz and essay competitio­n.

The winners – Hasanat Kuku of Muslim Secondary School (Senior) Ijebu-Ode and Mayowa Fagbenro Mayowa of Comprehens­ive High School (Junior), Ilaro – are, by this feat, to represent the state at the south-west zone of the competitio­n slated for next year.

The president of ANCOPPS in the state, Chief E.O. Ogundele, disclosed this at the ANCOPPS’ 37th annual conference held at Ilaro, Ogun State, where the winners were formally presented with their gifts at the weekend.

Ogundele said the two winners displayed high quality and good performanc­e during the contest, which involved about 500 secondary schools in the state. “I am confident that they are materials that can bring laurels to the state at both the regional and national contest coming up next year,” he said.

The chairman of the Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Chief (Mrs) Olabodipo Ogunsan, urged the winners to further buckle up to enable the state excel in the national contest.

Ogunsan promised to assist the winners in undertakin­g special preparatio­ns to enable Ogun State emerge the overall best in the contest.

In a chat with our correspond­ent, Kuku and Fagbenro promised to work extra hard to emerge victorious at the zonal and national contests.

In his address, the ANCOPPS president posited that there was need to introduce a qualifying test for new students into Junior Secondary 1 in the state public secondary schools.
