Kada Queens begin camping for Women’s Hockey ACC

-

The Kaduna state female hockey team, Kada Queens, has opened camp for 30 players in preparation for the Africa Club Championship (ACC) scheduled for Ghana, a team official said on Friday.

Team Head Coach Idana BabaAbdullahi said in Kaduna that the camping programme would last for three weeks before they would leave for the championship.

The team will represent Nigeria in the ACC scheduled for Jan. 20 to Jan. 28 in Accra, Ghana.

“We just opened camp for 30 players at the Murtala Mohammed Square and they will be spending their Christmas and New Year holidays in camp.

“We have been training hard because we want a better outing than last year when we came third in Kenya due to some problems and late arrival for the tournament.

“We are hopeful that we will be going early this year and will have a good outing at the championship,” Baba-Abdullahi said.

The coach added that the team would work hard to win the competition this year in order to improve their ranking.

“With the calibre of players in the camp and the support we are getting from the government now, we hope to work hard and finish well in order to improve our ranking.

“Last year, we had a bronze medal due to some problems. But I believe it’s going to be better for us as we hope to move a step ahead,” he said. (NAN)
