An NGO, Beyond Boundaries Legacy Leadership Initiative (BBLLI), says it will engage 15 youth leaders on peaceful coexistence and ethno-religious tolerance in Nasarawa State for a one-week training from January 4, 2018.

The organisation said it is conducting the training in collaboration with Niwano Peace Foundation of Japan to promote peace and development.

A report of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) citing a statement from the Executive Director of BBLLI, Mr Omaga Daniel, said the participants would be expected to step up the message of peace and ethno-religious tolerance in their various communities for the period of nine months.

“We will train 15 youth leaders drawn from the Keffi, Akwanga and Lafia zones of Nasarawa State on peace, ethno-religious tolerance in order to promote peace among the various ethnic and religious groups in the state,” it said.

It said the programme is aimed at promoting ethnoreligious tolerance and peace building within Nigeria.

Recently, parts of Nigeria have experienced incidences of unhealthy rivalry between members of various religious and ethnic groups some of which have resulted to breech of public peace.

It also underscored the essence of peace in building an all-inclusive society, adding that peace is a panacea for all-inclusive development of Nigeria, hence the need for the training.
