1 dies as Badoo strikes again in Ikorodu

- From Eugene Agha, Lagos

Suspected members of the Badoo cult have struck at Ikorodu, Lagos, killing one person.

The gang attacked a family of four around 2.30am Saturday at Abule Osorun of Ibeshe, injuring four people: father, mother, and two kids.

Members of the gang have been terrorizing residents of Ikorodu and Epe over a year now. Though some of them have at different times ‘given up’ their arms for peace to reign, minor attacks of the members have continued.

The suspects arrived the scene when residents were sleeping.

It was gathered that the suspects scaled the fence of their targetted house and entered through the window.

“The victims were attacked while they were still sleeping,” a source said.

The police in Lagos however dismissed the involvement of members of Badoo in the attack, stressing that all those involved were criminals and would be treated as such.

Lagos Command Spokesman, Chile Oti, said the joint Police/Community Vigilante Services earlier set up by the Commissioner of Police, CP Edgal Imohimi, and a team of policemen from Ipakodo Division, rose to the occasion by moving swiftly to the scene of crime.

“The team rescued the victims and rushed them to General Hospital Ikorodu for treatment. Unfortunately one of them, Mr Sakiru Yekini, died later. It is also important to note that one of the suspects was arrested at the scene and his confession led to the arrest of four other suspects who took part in the crime,” he said.
