MONDAYBUSI­NESS ECONOMIC INSIGHT Fuel: Long queues disappear in Abuja

There are strong indication­s that the fuel scarcity has come to an end following availabili­ty of the fuel in most of the filling stations in the Federal Capital Territory (FC T), Abuja.

Our reporter who went round petrol filling stations in Abuja metropolis and its environ observed that the long queue has banished as few motorist are sighted buying fuel in most of the filling stations.

Investigat­ion revealed that many petrol filling stations which include, NNPC Mega Station located at zone 1, MRS Filling Station at Piwoyi Junction, along Airport Road, NNPC Mega Station along Airport road, Oando Filling Station located at zone 4 are still selling fuel as at yesterday, Sunday.

Some motorists who spoke with Daily Trust thanked the Federal Government for taking proactive measures to end the fuel scarcity.

Malam Sule Isa who resides at Lugbe described the present situation as an indication of Government’s commitment to the flight of the public.

“We thank God Almighty and the Federal Government for taking drastic measures to bring lasting solution to this fuel scarcity. This is a clear indication that Government is committed to its responsibi­lities”, he said.

Mr Sunday Aibayo who resides at Karmajiji area called on Government to do more to prevent reoccurren­ce of the fuel scarcity in the country.

“I want to use this opportunit­y to appeal to Government to take more measures to prevent anything that can take us back to fuel scarcity era”.

According to him, all major marketing companies and independen­t marketers should be monitored to ensure full compliance of Government’s directives.

Alhaji Isyaka Sama’ila who resides at Wuze 2 applauded Federal Government­s efforts in ensuring availabili­ty of fuel in petrol filling stations in Abuja.

He called on Government to extend the gesture to other states and ensure regular fuel supply in filling stations across the states.

The NNPC Group Managing Director, Maikanti Baru has assured motorists that there was no shortage of fuel and urged them not to engage in panic buying.
