Ortom to end delay in payment of salaries - Aide

- From Hope Abah, Makurdi

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State will soon put an end to the delay in the payment of workers’ salaries.

Ortom’s Chief of Staff, Dr. Terwase Orbunde, who said this at the weekend in an interview with Daily Trust in Makurdi, also stated that the governor had proved his integrity beyond reasonable doubt.

“Ortom has brought credibility to governance. He has brought his deep faith in God to evolve in the governance of the state such that he acts what he says and does not pretend about it,” he said.

Orbunde stressed that the delay in the payment of civil servants’ salaries in the state would soon become a thing of the past as the government was working hard to end the workers’ nightmare.

He said the on-going verification exercise headed by the state’s deputy governor, Engr. Benson Abounu, would in no distant time, be completed and ensure reduction in the workers’ wage bill from N7.8 billion to about N4.5 billion monthly to enable government pay salaries as at when due.

According to him, the Ortom-led administration had not only improved security in the state but taken agricultural revolution to the next level by adding value to the sector and increasing food production.

The chief of staff stressed that the present stability in the state’s social, economic and political sectors among others were a testimony of the governor’s preparedness to create a lasting legacy in the state, especially when given another four years’ mandate to consolidate on his achievements.
