Kano LG polls: APC delegates raise alarm over change of candidate

- From Ibrahim Musa Giginyu, Kano

The All Progressives Congress (APC) delegates from Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State have raised alarm over alleged change of the party’s flag bearer.

Reading the delegates’ stand before the local government party leadership under Alhaji Yakubu Ado, the leader of the delegates, Malam Hassan Liman, said the party’s constitution, which made provision for consensus, also made provision for the conduct of primaries where the consensus arrangement failed.

Liman said it was because of that provision that the Kano State government set up a consensus committee on the upcoming local government election.

He said the committee met on December 22, 2017 and chose Alhaji Muhammed Shehu as the Nassarawa local government APC chairmanship flag bearer.

He said the attempt to replace the successful consensus candidate of the party by some individuals will not augur well for the party.

“We have seen the justice done by the executive governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and we must commend him for that.

However, the attempt to change this candidate is an act of sabotage and also an attempt to demean the good gesture done by the state governor.

We will resist any attempt to change the candidate and we will continue to campaign for the victory of our party in Nassarawa local government,” said
