FG committed to workers welfare -Oyo-Ita

- By Abbas Jimoh

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoCSF) Mrs. Winifred OyoIta has said that President Muhammadu Buhari is impressed by the activities and successes of federal civil servants across the country, and has promised to sustain their welfare in 2018 and beyond.

Oyo-Ita, who said this yesterday in Abuja while monitoring the resumption of workers after the yuletide and New Year public holidays, charged them on higher productivity in 2018 8by consolidating the achievements recorded in 2017.

She said this can only be done by redoubling their efforts toward performing their duties diligently as the Federal Government expected them to show more commitment and ensure greater successes in 2018.

“I am happy to come around this morning to see that quite a number of you are already in the office and this is what we want to see this year. We want to see more commitment and dedication to work. We have to prove ourselves as efficient, productive, incorruptible and citizencentered (EPIC) civil servants.

“I must congratulate you civil servants that you stood with this administration through thick and thin even in the face of the fuel crisis that ended before the New Year. 2018 would be a good year for civil servants, there were lots of positive signs from the performance of civil servants in 2017,” she said.

She President commended Muhammadu Buhari for keeping his promise of paying salaries and promotion arrears despite the challenges faced by the country in the previous year.

She also said that the government has resolved the case involving about 400 deputy directors who sat for promotion examination in 2014.

The aggrieved workers had petitioned the presidency over their stagnation in service, with some going further to challenge their stagnation before the National Industrial Court.

She said, “The matter has been favourably withdrawn from the court and the injunction has been lifted for deputy directors due for promotion, the affected civil servants for 2015, 2016 and 2017 are to seat for their examinations in the next two weeks.”
