Quadiriyya vitits Buhari in Aso Rock

- By Isiaka Wakili

Members of the Quadiriyya Sufi Movement in Nigeria and their Sudanese counterparts yesterday visited President Buhari in Aso Villa.

Speaking to State House reporters after the delegation’s meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, Yassin Garba Maisikeli, said their main mission was to pray for the president’s health as well as the health and progress of Nigeria.

Maisikeli said President Buhari asked for more prayers in support of his administration’s programmes as well as the unity of Nigeria.

“We came on a courtesy call to the President and pray for his personal health and the health and progress of Nigeria. That is basically the main mission. Secondly, to enhance the relationship between the Sudan and Nigerian people which has been in existence for several centuries; basically, that is what we came here to do,” he said.

He said their mission was not to make any request “but to pray for the president and pray for Nigeria. When you have august visitors like these, the best you can ask is prayers. He (Buhari) asked for more prayers in support of his programmes and the unity of Nigerians.”

On any special request from Sudan, he said: “From the embassy, no. In fact, the head of the Qadiriyya Sufi Order in Sudan is actually in attendance, he led the delegation to the president and then, from the Nigerian side, the head of the Qadiriyya Sufi Movement is also in attendance and leading the Nigerian entire delegation to this courtesy visit.”

Maisikeli said said Buhari received them very well and cordially as “he (the president) expressed himself very well and he was very happy and the spirit in which we saw the president is unbelievable so far so good.”
