The Paramount ruler of Ikulu in Zangon Katag local government area of Kaduna State, His Royal Highness, Yohanna Kukah has been kidnapped.

The traditional ruler is a younger brother to Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto.

A junior brother of the chief, Mr. Samuel Kukah, who spoke on phone, said, “The gunmen stormed the house of my brother about 8:30pm. They were 20 in number and were fully armed. They surrounded the chief who was making a call, tied his security guard in one of his cars and took the chief inside the house and asked him for money. They seized all his handsets and those belonging to his family members, collected his money and whisked him away without saying or demanding anything.”

Another source said the gunmen stormed the house of the traditional ruler at Anchuna and that one of the traditional guards at the palace who stepped in to prevent the gunmen from taking the traditional ruler away was also picked and were driven away.

Gunmen on Monday morning shot and killed a traditional ruler and his wife in a village in Sanga local government area of Kaduna State.

The Police Public Relations officer in Kaduna State, Hussain Mukhtar Aliyu, said Yohanna Kukah was abducted at 8:45 pm on Tuesday and all the relevant units had been mobilized to address the situation.
