The Lagos State police command yesterday paraded a herbalist, Omotayo Obamoyegun, alongside three other suspected members of the murderous cult gang, popularly known as Badoo.

The event held at the Police command, Ikeja, where the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Edgal Imohimi, said Obamoyegun, whom he described as the leader of a four-man gang of ritual killers, specialised in spraying a powdery substance into their victims’ dwelling place, which would make their targets fall into a deep sleep before the killers would end those lives by smashing their skulls with a grinding stone. “Obamoyegun Omotayo, having satisfied that the victims were dead, would use a white handkerchief to scrub their blood for ritual purposes. However, luck ran out on one of them when one of the victims raised an alarm which attracted the local vigilante group. The group, in turn, alerted the police in that area and the compound was cordoned off, leading to the arrest of one Chibuzor Igwe at the scene,” Imohimi said.

According to the Police Commissioner, Igwe had confessed to being a member of the Badoo killer squad and made revelations that led to the arrest of Obamoyegun and Samuel Ameze, both of whom had earlier escaped from the scene.

The police boss added that in an operation he personally led, a native doctor by the name Adebayo Fatai, also known as Adaripon, was also arrested at Imosan village in Ijebu Ode in connection with the incident.
