@LatifatOpoola A renowned visual artist, Mr Kolade Oshinowo, has advised the Federal Government to establish creative clubs in the 774 local government areas in Nigeria, to make the youths self-reliant.

Oshinowo, who gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, said that creative clubs would enable the youths to think deeply and explore their talents in arts.

The artist said the clubs should be run by highly competent facilitators welltalented in arts, and should be well-paid by the government.

He said that every youth should belong to the club, which should be split into various groups like beading, painting, drawing, sculpturing, carving, tie and dye, batik and others.

According to him, an individual will pick an aspect of the arts that he or she finds interesting, and once the beading group is done with the training, members can move to another group, like carving.

Oshinowo said that the youths, by so doing, would have been versatile in virtually all the aspects of arts, and would have varieties of money- spinning ventures at their disposal.

“At the end of the day, youth would not be stranded looking for white-collar jobs, as these clubs would assist them in discovering their talents early enough,” he said.
