Future Assured empowers 300 women, youths in Taraba

The wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari, through her pet project, Future Assured, has empowered over 300 women and youths from Taraba State.

Making a donation of tricycles, sewing machines, flour mixing machines for multiple baking activities to women and youth at the gymnasium hall of Jolly Nyame Stadium Jalingo, at the eend of the year, the mother of the nation said it was always her dream to better the lot of women and youths.

She also improved the capital of petty business operators with cash donations.

The beneficiar­ies, drawn from the 16 local government areas of the state and the two developmen­t areas, went home smiling.

Speaking at the event, Mrs. Aisha Buhari said Future Assured was her humble way of contributi­ng to the upliftment of the downtrodde­n.

Represente­d by Adamawa State Commission­er for Water Resources, Alhaji Ahmed Rufai, Mrs Buhari said the project was her independen­t initiative, separate from the government of her husband, President Muhammadu Buhari .

The personal assistant to the president’s wife, Aishatu Abdullahi Ahmed, said the interventi­on was an on-going programme of Future Assured, which had taken place in some other states of the federation.

She said the empowermen­t had taken place in Kano, Kwara, Bauchi, Katsina and Cross River, adding that Taraba was the latest to benefit from the life-changing interventi­on. She stressed that the effect was far reaching and has had multiplier public.

She said in some states, the foundation intervened in the health sector, while in others, it was in the education sector.

The chairman of the occasion and former deputy governor of Taraba State, Uba Maigari Audu (Esq), said the impact of the programme would be felt by the beneficiar­ies as it was encompassi­ng and provided opportunit­ies for a better future.

The former deputy governor told the gathering that the beneficiar­ies were drown benefits to the from the 16 local government areas of the state and nobody in the state was privy to their selection process.

Responding on behalf of other beneficiar­ies, Alhaji Baba Mohammed from Takum Local Government Area appreciate­d Mrs Buhari for empowering them with machines that would help them become entreprene­urs.

Mohammed urged other organisati­ons to impact on the lives of the masses so that poverty, disease and unemployme­nt would be defeated in Nigeria.
